UPCOMING EVENTS

EXPOFAVELA
DECENTRALIZED

The decentralized Expo Favela event marks the inauguration of the peripheral tourism route "Museu Louvre da Periferia" (Louvre of the Periphery Museum) and the handover of the new Graffiti Alley to the community.

THE STREET
IT'S OUR

GALLERY

The Louvre Museum of the Periphery is an affirmation that Sarandi, on the outskirts of Porto Alegre, carries in its streets the same grandeur as any major cultural center in the world. Conceived by the Coletivo Abrigo, the project was born to transform the territory into a vibrant, pulsating tourist destination deeply connected to the power of urban art.

Inspired by successful experiences such as Comuna 13 in Medellín, the Louvre of the Periphery transforms marginalized community spaces into an open-air art gallery. The project creates the largest peripheral tourism route in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, spanning over 2 km and featuring more than 40 artists.

Here, the street is our gallery and the community is the curator of a culture that transforms, inspires, and takes Sarandi to the world.

Graffiti 360

The Coletivo Abrigo, in partnership with Global Shapers of Porto Alegre, produced a 360° video of the graffiti route, an immersive experience to be viewed with virtual reality glasses. The video features an original poem by slam poet Silvinho PDA.

ABOUT US

The Louvre Museum of the Periphery was born as a new phase in our journey in Sarandi. Before it, we had the experience of the Viva Elizabeth project, a pioneering initiative that marked the beginning of our community tourism work in the neighborhood. However, after the 2024 flood and with the panels destroyed by the force of the water, that project ceased to exist. From this loss, we transformed the dream, rebuilt the idea, and were reborn with a new concept: a living open-air museum that continues the legacy but moves forward with a new identity, new ambitions, and even greater strength.
